Went to Pt. Roberts to finally pick up my new video card. The tv-out looks sweet. A few things I learned today though:

Taz brought his gamecube into work today and I was fairly impressed. It ran fairly smooth, was smaller than expected, the game discs are 3" dvds, and the controllers are really nice.

Despite working on multiple nintendo websites, and the gamecube promo cd-rom, I had never actually seen a real one before. The controller has a really natural rumble pak built in. It doesn't klack like a cheap pos when it works. I may have underestimated nintendo's latest creation before. But if they had sent us one, we would have known this a while ago.

Ted tried an egg nog soda at Pho Thang Long on main st tonight. Seemed like a mixture of egg nog, sweetened condensed milk, and club soda. Was probably as good as my vietnamese iced coffee with condensed milk.

Shaun was nice enough to rent the Brilliant Green Super Terra 2000 video for me, but unfortunately, it's VHS. Now, I haven't watched a vhs tape in a while, and watching this reminds me why.

Vhs is shit. If you don't already have one, go buy a Pioneer dv-343 or 440 dvd player and do yourself a world of good.

But the video itself is neat. It's making me think about ordering the dvd in. Unfortunately it's region 2 and almost $100.

We were challenged to a Counter-strike match by Savage Software, and after putting it off several times due to technical problems on our end, we finally played and destroyed them. They won 3 rounds out of the over 40 we played, and weren't able to win once against us in 30 rounds of inferno.

I was a bit nervous before the match, but it got silly near the end when it became a race to kill them. Radical wants a shot at us next. I think we might be competitive.

It looks kinda screwed cos one of their players (boiler maker) showed up as being on our team, but he wasn't. We don't know where the hell he went. By the end of the second match, they all started bailing on us so it looks like they had less dudes (they had one less).

The telus mail and newsgroups have been pretty slow lately. This in turn, means my newsgroup porn comes in way slower than usual. It's like being a farmer without a thresher who harvests by hand. What a waste of time.

Almost time for my week off. Can't wait to paint my room, and finish setting up my room-theatre rig. Need an overpriced geforce3 w/ tv-out to complete it though.

I don't like the phone. It rings, and it's never for me, since everyone I care to talk to usually sends me an icq, an email, or just calls my cell-phone. The only people that call my landline tend to harass me about not replying to their emails. I'm a busy guy, and between viewing porn and masturbating, I have few free minutes in my average day.

Upgraded Vic's machine to a athlon at 1.2ghz last night, and he can finally watch the mpeg4v2 vids I did without dropped frames. Win.
